2008 Synthesis Imaging Workshop Tutorials - CASA

On June 13, 2008, we are holding three CASA Tutorials for
participants in the 11th Synthesis
Imaging Workshop in Socorro, New Mexico, to be held in classrooms
128 and 209 of Weir Hall (building 43 on the New
Mexico Tech Campus map)
Schedule
- 0900-1000 MDT: an introductory lecture and demonstration by
Steve Myers in Weir 128
- 1000-1300 MDT: tutorials, using one of the supplied scripts as a
starting point
- VLA continuum and spectral line tutorials --- Weir 128
- BIMA millimeter wave tutorial --- Weir 209
- 1300-1500 MDT: lunch and tours at the AOC
- 1500-1700 MDT: continuation of tutorials

Tutorial basics
- Some tutorials run from beginning to end, without requiring user
input. Others stop at times to allow interactive use, and require a
carriage return to continue
- Initially, participants may want to run the whole tutorial.
After that, we recommend going through the tutorial in order, task by
task, e.g. by cutting and pasting sections of the script into the CASA
command interpreter, and by experimenting with a variety of parameter
settings
