The P calibration only rotates the parallactic angle dependence out of Measurement Equation terms containing the nominal interferometer response; the corrupting terms (in particular, those containing D) still have a parallactic angle dependence. It is this dependence which makes the D calibration separable and thus solvable. Refer to the Synthesis Calibration chapter of Getting Results for more information.
