Some measure of interoperability between AIPS and AIPS++ during the
transition period between the two systems holds clear advantages for
both NRAO and the user community. This note examines this question in
more detail in order to identify which forms of interoperability are
likely to be scientifically useful, and the technical means by which
they could be achieved.
