These standards and guidelines have been chosen to promote a consistent
style, clarity and organization in AIPS++ code. Standards are coding
practices which everyone must follow; guidelines are recommended

Use of standards and guidelines will in general reduce the number of
initial defects by about 25%, and make maintenance of code easier.
