This tool function extends the menu with the supplied items.
Note that unlike when you interactively extend the menu, no
checking for the validity of the new items is done.
That is your responsibility.

extend(labels, width)

labels
The menu item labels
Allowed:
Vector of strings

Empty menu
width
Width in character units
