This tool function recovers the index of the currently selected item in the menu. If the menu is empty, it returns F. If no menu item has been selected by the user, it returns unity.

Example

- labels := "Absolute RelRef RelCen";
- f := frame();
- m := optionmenu(f, labels=labels);
- m.selectindex(2);
- m.getindex();
