The spectrum frame displays information about the spectral variation of the component. Currently there are two models used to describe the spectral variation, namely 'Constant', and 'Spectral Index'.
If the spectrum is assumed to be constant then the concept of a reference frequency is irrelevant. Hence it is not displayed.
If the spectral model used is a spectral index then a reference frequency, frequency reference frame and spectral index need to be specified. The units for the reference frequency are specified by a pull-down menu to the right of the value.
The frequency frame is specified using a pull-down menu just below the reference frequency. Currently no attempt is made to convert the reference frequency between different frames when in view mode. Hence you cannot change the frame in view mode.
To fully specify the spectral index of a polarised component four indices are used. These indices are applied to the I,Q,U&V components of the flux separately. If you are not interested in the spectral index of the polarised flux you can choose to display the spectral index of just the I component using a pull-down menu to the right of the I index value.
